History
The Cooperative began as part of the pastoral plan of Guadalupe parish under its Social Action Program. The Legion of Mary, one of the most active church-mandated organizations, was entrusted with this mission. The idea of establishing a cooperative, strongly advocated by Fr. Sincero Lucero, aimed to extend the parish’s commitment to social concern by promoting self-help programs among its parishioners. Despite initial hesitation, the vision was pursued by dedicated leaders, led by Bro. Jose Mercado, with support from the Scarboro Fathers of Leyte. On October 11, 1971, the first cooperative seminar was held through the selfless efforts of Sis. Jo Duldaloa from the Catholic Social Action Center (CASSAC) and the National Secretariat for Social Action (NASSA).
What began as a credit union with just 21 core members has grown into a cooperative with over 6,000 active members and total assets exceeding ₱435 million as of June 2025.
In 1992, the General Assembly approved the transformation of the Cooperative from a credit-only service into multi-purpose. This led to the establishment of a Consumers’ Store, providing basic household goods to members and the broader community.
Today, credit services are made accessible to all members in good standing. Providential and livelihood loans support a wide range of individuals — including urban poor families, vendors, farmers, homemakers, youth, and professionals. With ongoing system automation, services continue to improve. Recently, the construction of 2 concrete, 4-storey buildings bring the total number of buildings to 5.
Further, the Cooperative has expanded its membership to Bukidnon, making the cooperative more inclusive to farmers.
As a community-based cooperative, GCMPC has weathered many challenges. Through the unwavering dedication of its members, officers, and staff, it has emerged as a strong pillar of development in the community, serving the everyday needs of ordinary people.

A strong and viable Cooperative responsive to the needs of the members and the community for the attainment of Total Human Development.
